What QCE students actually think

Notes from Queensland students getting exam ready with AusGrader.

Having every QCAA past external in one place is so good. I started practising early for externals and I'm already feeling way more on top of it.

AusGrader carried me through the data test at the start of the year, and now I'm on it a few nights a week for exam revision. Makes everything so much simpler.

Best part is getting marks back the second I finish a question. I've stopped cramming the night before my General Maths exams because I'm actually keeping up now.

How QCE assessment works

Most QCE General subjects combine three internal assessments (IA1, IA2 and IA3) set by your school with one external assessment (EA) set and marked by the QCAA at the end of Year 12. In Mathematics and Science subjects the external exam is worth 50% of your final subject result, so exam technique matters as much as content knowledge.

Because the external assessment is common across the state, past QCAA papers are the single best predictor of what your exam will look like. The question styles, command words and marking schemes repeat year after year.

Practise with real QCAA questions

AusGrader's QCE question bank is built from real QCAA external exam papers and organised against the current syllabus, so you can drill an entire paper or target a single subtopic you keep dropping marks on.

Every response you submit is marked against the official marking guide, with feedback on exactly which marks you earned and which you missed. You can type answers or upload photos of handwritten working, just like the real paper.

Track your progress toward the external exam

Your analytics break results down by topic and subtopic, so revision time goes where it actually moves your mark. You can also see average scores from thousands of other Queensland students on the same questions to know where you stand.

Real questions, instant marking and topic analytics together are what make AusGrader a complete QCE study tool rather than just another folder of past papers.

Common questions

Are these real QCAA past exam questions?

Yes. The QCE question bank is built from real QCAA external assessment papers, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence, and mapped to the current QCAA syllabus for each subject.

How does the AI marking work?

You answer a question by typing or uploading a photo of your handwritten working. AusGrader marks it against the official QCAA marking guide and returns a mark with feedback on what earned marks and what was missing, usually in under a minute.

Which QCE subjects are covered?

AusGrader covers Accounting, Agricultural Science, Biology, Biology Alternative Sequence, Business, Chemistry, Digital Solutions, Economics, Engineering, General Mathematics, Geography, Health, Legal Studies, Marine Science, Mathematical Methods, Physical Education, Physics, Physics Alternative Sequence, Psychology, Specialist Mathematics, Specialist Mathematics Alternative Sequence, Study of Religion, Agricultural Science Alternative Sequence, Ancient History, English, English as an Additional Language, Literature and Modern History for the QCE, with new subjects added regularly.

Is AusGrader free to use?

You can sign up free and start practising QCE questions straight away. A premium plan unlocks unlimited AI marking and full analytics. Schools can also license AusGrader for whole cohorts.

Does practising past papers actually improve QCE results?

Practising under exam conditions and reviewing against marking schemes is one of the most reliable ways to improve. Because QCE external assessments are common across the state, past papers closely reflect the style and difficulty of the exam you will sit.
