VCE Results 2026 (VCAA Release Date and ATAR)

VCE results for 2026 are available from 7am on Thursday 10 December 2026, through the joint VCAA and VTAC Results and ATAR Service on the web or in the app. You register first, then log in with your VCAA student number and a results service password. Your results show a grade for each graded assessment and a study score from 0 to 50, and your ATAR is a separate rank that VTAC calculates from your scaled study scores.

This guide describes the 2026 VCE results process using VTAC's 2026 results fact sheet, the VCE Administrative Handbook 2026 and the VTAC ATAR and Scaling Guide 2026. For the exams that come before results, see the VCE exam timetable and how to prepare for VCE exams. For past exams in every study, start from VCE past exams (VCAA).

When do VCE results come out in 2026?

The VTAC fact sheet for the 2026 VCE Results and ATAR Service sets the date and time: students can access their results from 7am on Thursday 10 December 2026. Registration opens before then, and VTAC asks students to register early so nothing stands between them and the 7am release.

How do I get my VCE results?

The Results and ATAR Service is run jointly by VCAA and VTAC. It is open to any student with at least one Units 3 and 4 enrolment, on the web at resultsandatar.vic.edu.au or in the Results and ATAR app for iPhone and Android.

  1. Register before results day. You cannot see results without registering.
  2. Log in with your VCAA student number and your results service password. Your student number is on VASS or CourseLink. It is not your VTAC ID.
  3. Keep the two logins apart. Your VTAC account uses your VTAC ID and PIN. Changing the PIN or the password for one does not change the other.

VCAA also sends study results to registered email addresses. Your results package is also mailed on the scheduled date at the end of the academic year: students with any Units 3 and 4 study get it at their recorded address, and the VCE certificate goes to your home school. A student with only Units 1 and 2 gets results in the school's package.

If your password is rejected, the fact sheet says it needs at least one character from three of these groups: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numerals and special characters. A reset link goes to the email address you gave when you first made a password.

What is on my VCE results?

The VCAA Statement of Results holds your cumulative record for all VCE units, with an S (satisfactory) or an N (not satisfactory) for each unit. For every Units 3 and 4 sequence you did, it also shows the graded assessments and the study score. A VCE Vocational Major study gets no study score.

  • Graded assessments. Every VCE study other than VM studies has 3 graded assessments in a Units 3 and 4 sequence, and each is reported as A+ to E, plus UG (ungraded) or NA (not assessed). Scored VCE VET studies have 2.
  • A study score. A number from 0 to 50 that shows how you performed in the study against everyone else who took it. A score below 20 is shown as "<20". If more than one graded assessment is NA, or Units 3 and 4 were not satisfactorily completed, you see UN, which means no study score is available.
  • Your GAT result. In December you receive a GAT Statement of Results in the overall package. It says whether you met the literacy and numeracy standards, or met them and achieved excellence. A student who did not meet the standards in 2026 can resit the GAT in 2027.

The VCE certificate itself carries your full name but does not list your studies or results. For how a study score is built from your SACs and exams, see VCE study scores.

What counts as a good study score?

Every study is converted to an average of 30. VCAA's handbook gives an approximate distribution, which is useful for context on the day.

Study score202530354045
Approx. % of students on or above9378532692

The maximum is 50.

How is my ATAR different from my study scores?

The ATAR is an overall percentile rank that compares your Year 12 achievement with the age group in that year. VTAC calculates it, and its only use is for institutions to rank applicants into some tertiary courses. A student with an ATAR of 75.00 has achieved VCE results above 75 per cent of the Year 12 age group. VTAC states that there is no pass or fail ATAR, and that everyone who receives one has passed the VCE.

VTAC takes the study scores that VCAA produced, already standardised to an average of 30, and scales them. Scaling adjusts a study upwards or downwards depending on the level of competition in it, judged by how its students performed in their other studies. The scaled study scores then go into an aggregate:

  • To qualify, you need to qualify for the VCE and have study scores in at least four permissible Units 3 and 4 studies, including one from the English group.
  • The primary four are your highest scaled score in an English-group study plus your next three highest permissible scaled scores.
  • Up to two increments can follow, normally 10% of a fifth and sixth scaled score.
  • Aggregates are ranked across the cohort on a percentile scale in steps of 0.05, which gives ATARs from 0.00 to 99.95. Anything below 30.00 shows as "less than 30" on your ATAR statement, and the actual number is in the online results service.

So the same study score can feed your aggregate differently from one study to another, and a scaled score can be higher or lower than the VCAA study score. VTAC also says a scaled-down score in a study you did well in will most likely be higher than a scaled-up score in a study you did badly in.

Getting an ATAR statement

The fact sheet describes three routes.

  • Paid VTAC applicants get an email from My eQuals to register and view a certified Digital ATAR statement. The emails start on 15 December 2026, or on 21 December 2026 for a Notional ATAR. A My eQuals account does not expire, and students who finished Year 12 in 2025 or 2024 can still get their ATAR there.
  • Non-VTAC applicants can use the paid printed ATAR statement on the VTAC website after results are released.
  • Notional ATARs are for applicants with another qualification from Victoria such as the International Baccalaureate, earlier Victorian Year 12 results other than VCE, a Units 3 and 4 study done outside a January to December timetable, or interstate studies. VTAC treats a Notional ATAR as equivalent to a normal ATAR.

Each state recognises the ATAR of the others as equivalent. VCE Vocational Major studies give no study score and cannot count toward an ATAR, so VM students can apply straight away only for courses that do not use the ATAR.

What if my results are not what I expected?

VCAA treats released results as final apart from exceptional cases. School-based assessment cannot be re-marked after release, except through a student appeal against a school penalty for a rules breach. You still have options.

  • Statement of Marks. Shows the marks you got for each question or criterion on an external assessment and the marks available. There is no fee, and late applications are not processed.
  • Statement of Study Score. Gives the details of how your study score was calculated. It is also free.
  • Inspection of your exam. Written exam papers can be inspected under conditions, and VCAA allows 15 minutes. You need a Statement of Marks first, a fee is charged per paper, and VCAA recommends your study teacher is present. You cannot remove or copy anything, and the papers do not carry marks or assessors' comments.
  • Confirmation of grades. Your principal can ask for an administrative check of the grading of an external assessment where a result differs a lot from expectation. It is a check, not a re-mark.
  • VCE examination score review. Only the principal or another member of the principal class can request this, in exceptional cases where a marking error is suspected on a written exam question. You and your teacher must first have a Statement of Marks and inspected the paper. VCAA will not accept an application on the basis that a student expected a higher mark.

The Post Results and ATAR Service (PRAS) is the main contact for queries right after release, on 1800 653 080. The handbook says it can't give you your actual results.

What do I do after VCE results are out?

Your results and ATAR are inputs to your next step, not the whole of it. VTAC points out that the ATAR is only one of many criteria institutions use, and that not all courses use it. Check the entry requirements of the courses you want, including any prerequisites, and use your own aggregate and the ATAR you receive against them.

If you sat studies with scaling rules, VTAC's guide has notes on them. The Mathematics studies are scaled against each other as well as against all other studies, and the higher of the two scales is used. Languages receive an adjustment. VTAC warns that picking a study only because it was scaled up in earlier years can work against you.

Frequently asked questions

What time do VCE results come out in 2026?

From 7am on Thursday 10 December 2026, according to the VTAC fact sheet for the 2026 VCE Results and ATAR Service. You must register first at resultsandatar.vic.edu.au or in the Results and ATAR app, and registration was already open when the fact sheet was published. VCAA also sends study results to registered email addresses.

How do I log in to see my VCE results?

Use your VCAA student number and the results service password you create when you register. This is separate from your VTAC account, which uses your VTAC ID and PIN, and changing one does not change the other. If your student number is rejected, check that you are not using your VTAC ID, and look up the VCAA number on VASS or CourseLink.

When do I get my ATAR statement?

VTAC's fact sheet says certified Digital ATAR statements go only to paid VTAC applicants, who get an email from My eQuals from 15 December 2026 (21 December 2026 for a Notional ATAR). Non-VTAC applicants can order a paid printed ATAR statement on the VTAC website after results are released.

Is my study score the same as my ATAR?

No. VCAA calculates each study score from 0 to 50. VTAC then scales the study scores to account for competition between studies, adds the best of them into an aggregate, and converts the aggregates of the whole cohort into ATARs between 0.00 and 99.95.

Can I get my VCE exam re-marked?

Not by asking for a re-mark. VCAA treats results as final apart from exceptional cases. You can apply for a free Statement of Marks and Statement of Study Score. Only your principal (or, for a score review, another member of the principal class) can request confirmation of grades or an examination score review, and a review needs a suspected marking error plus a Statement of Marks and an inspection of your paper first.

Who do I call if something looks wrong on results day?

The Post Results and ATAR Service (PRAS), on 1800 653 080, is the main contact for all queries immediately after release, according to the VTAC fact sheet. VCAA's handbook says PRAS cannot give you your actual results, so use the results service itself for those.
